At least I have the choice to read the book.

Public Comment — Anderson School District 4 Board Meeting - March 11, 2024

Last month I spoke to you about the State Department of Education’s R.43-170. Sadly, the State Board of Education approved it, and I’m sure the State Legislature will too when they vote on it.

They can pass their regulations, but I will keep reading and keep supporting the fact that everyone benefits from reading. It broadens our knowledge and understanding of others. We are remiss in children’s education if we don’t allow them to explore the world through reading.

I read both fiction and nonfiction, and encourage you to do the same. And of course, if a book suddenly is challenged it piques my interest. I say to myself, “Now what’s that about?” And next I’m reading it. Some I like and some I don’t. At least I have the choice to read the book.
